CrossRoad Engineers Donates $12,000 for Beech Grove Park Rehabilitation

CrossRoad Engineers partnered with Beech Grove's Parks Department to make cosmetic repairs and drainage improvements to the basketball courts in Sarah Bolton Park. CRE donated half of the cost of the improvements as well as its design services for the drainage and surface work. The courts were in dire need of repair and their condition was noticed by CRE staff since they are in close proximity to CRE's offices and used regularly for lunch-time basketball games. CRE felt a duty to contribute to the project as a corporate citizen of Beech Grove. "We feel at home here and use the basketball courts on a regular basis. We recognized the age of the courts and the impaired drainage in the area, so we want to do our part to invest in a valuable asset of a park we enjoy," said Trent Newport in an interview with the Southside Times.

With CRE's help the basketball courts were given a complete make-over. Surface cracks were repaired and an asphalt overlay and new acrylic color sports coat and striping was applied. After they were completed, CRE tested out the new courts by challenging Beech Grove's Police and Fire Department to a game. The Mayor even attended to check out the action! CRE employs some great ball players, but unfortunately on that day the City's team was better. Afterwards, both teams and spectators had lunch together in one of the park's shelter houses.
